Though the Supreme Court has indicated that the CDCs prohibition on evictions is unconstitutional, the Biden Administration has extended the federal moratorium on evictions for another two months. The administration knows full well that the prohibition is illegal, but does not care. They are taking advantage of the amount of time it takes for issues to be litigated.
Biden stated that “at a minimum, by the time it is litigated, we’ll probably give some additional time while we’re getting that $45 billion out to people who are, in fact, behind in the rent and don’t have the money.”
