Real Estate Expert Warns ‘Exodus’ From Cities Will Last Two Years

People are leaving big cities for suburbs and small towns to get away from density, in view of the Coronavirus, and to get away from protests and riots and politicians who are sympathetic to them.

It is hard to blame them. Who would want to live in or near Seattle’s CHAZ or CHOP zones, with its rapes, shootings, junkies, homeless people, robberies, late night megaphones and partying, and difficulty obtaining emergency services. Leaders of the protest could not agree on what they were trying to accomplish. Some would probably not have been happy with anything less than Marxism. Politicians were too weak to enforce rule of law and one actually encouraged the protesters and let them occupy city hall. It is likely that at least some people from Seattle would want to move to the more conservative Spokane Coeur d’Alene area or a town like Cheney that has a strong sense of community and more more reasonable real estate prices.

Though the departures from cities are just starting, one expert believes that city occupants could continue to flee cities for the next 18-24 months. This is discussed in the article linked above.

The following article confirms that people are moving from the large metros. Rents are falling drastically in New York City. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/manhattan-rental-market-implodes-median-rent-plunges-most-ever-vacancies-hit-record-high
